Codes

All prices in Australian dollars. One sitting of the real PPLA is $217.24. Unused codes never expire; once you launch an exam you have 24 hours to submit it. Each code draws a different exam.

From code to de-brief

  1. Enter the code and press launch.
  2. Give the email address the de-brief should go to. There is no account.
  3. Sit the exam: 60 questions, 3 h 30, an answer sheet to jump around, and a reference panel with the standing figures so nothing has to be looked up elsewhere.
  4. Read the de-brief: every wrong answer with the correct one, the reasoning and the Part 61 MOS item to revise, on screen and by email.

Terms and conditions

01General terms

By purchasing or using an access code you agree to these terms. They are a binding agreement between you and The Flying Roo. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

02Access codes

The service is pay-as-you-go. Each access code works as follows:

  • One code, one exam. A code opens exactly one full-length mock exam. The code is consumed when the exam is submitted and cannot be reused.
  • 24-hour window. Unused codes never expire. Once a code is activated, that is, an exam is launched with it, the exam must be completed within 24 hours or the code lapses.
  • No pause. The clock cannot be paused. If the browser closes or the connection drops, your progress and the remaining time are saved and the exam can be resumed with the same code on the same device within the 24-hour window.
  • Personal use. Codes are for the use of the purchaser or the person they are bought for. They may not be resold.

03Aviation disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Flying Roo is an independent study aid for the CASA Private Pilot Licence (aeroplane) theory examination. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Airservices Australia or Aspeq. Passing a mock exam here is not a guarantee of passing the official examination.

Every effort is made to keep the question bank accurate, but the regulations, Manuals of Standards, AIP and ERSA change. The bank does not replace the current documents, your flying school or your instructor. To the extent permitted by law, The Flying Roo accepts no liability for any loss arising from reliance on this service.

04Refunds and consumer guarantees

Codes are digital content delivered immediately, so we do not generally refund a change of mind. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law: if a technical fault on our side stops you using a code, you get a replacement code or a full refund. Email support and it gets sorted.

05Intellectual property and acceptable use

The question bank, explanations and interface are the property of The Flying Roo. You may not copy, scrape, record or redistribute questions or rationales. Attempts to bypass the access-code system or automate the service may result in codes being cancelled without refund.

Privacy policy

01Introduction

This policy sets out what The Flying Roo ("we", "us") collects and how it is used, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service and we do not sell any of it.

02What we collect

  • Your email address, to deliver access codes, send your de-brief and let you resume an exam you have started.
  • Exam data, your answers, score and time remaining, so an interrupted exam can be resumed and your de-brief can be produced.

03Payment information

We do not see or store your card details. Payment happens on Stripe's hosted checkout page. We receive a confirmation that payment succeeded and the email address to send the codes to.

04Third-party services

The service runs on providers who may process your data on our behalf:

  • Google Firebase. Hosting, database and the functions that draw your exam.
  • Stripe. Payment processing.
  • Brevo. Transactional email: your codes and your de-brief.
  • Google Analytics. Anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, device type, purchases) so we can see how the site is used.

05Retention and use

Your email address is used for transactional messages only. Codes and the exam data attached to them are kept so that de-briefs can be re-sent and disputes resolved. We do not send marketing email and we do not share your details with advertisers.

06Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Email support@theflyingroo.au.
